My post production test notes for DREAMS, the game by Media Molecule - from about 6/7year ago
I had submitted myself to become the sound designer for the game, which at the time was being developed.
It was split into 3 sections.
• animation test
• review advert & what could be done better with the sounds
• Wwise test
These notes were for the first section.
For the semiconductor section I recorded myself talking about the advert, because I have dislecia & found typing too hard to convey what I felt would be better. I got into loudness of things & what could be done better, but it was a long recording in the end. I took it seriously, lol.
Lastly the Wwise test, which was putting sounds in for a ship animation. I literally taught myself how to use the software in a silly short time, basically that day, lol
I was living in a house that was falling apart, had no work, didn’t know people at the time where I lived & was trying to get out for a better life & to do the thing I love doing & feel I’m good at, making sounds & music
While I may get into trouble for sharing this. I wanted to share what lengths & depths you can get to to do the job.
I’m genuinely grateful for how far I got in the test, beating out many other very talented people, but sadly did not get the job. It was a great experience & would love to do more
For many of the sounds I used In-Ear Display's EPHEMERE plugin, a sweet goodness plugin that makes lovely SFX & beats

But having that opportunity to do something like this & get how far I got was amazing but also sad. Amazing to do it in the first place. But sad it didn’t turn into work
Either way it was an experience. If you wanna get things like it, chase & do it!!
