Remembering that #DragonPilot exists
[P] Big feelings. Sorry for the... tirade? Is that what it was, or am I thinking of a cavalcade? A bilious stream of words with no foreseeble end until I run out of things to say. I had a lot to process. And once my partner has caught up, I'll be talking about this with them aswell. I just wanted to put these thoughts out there, as they might reach the right ears.

[P] So... something like Dragon Pilot that so thoroughly embraces the other, the unexceptionao, and "schmaltz?" It's always a time between stories like that, so it's bitter-sweet. I dragged out the show for as long as I could in order to have it last. I wish I'd gotten to spend some slice-of-life time with Hisone and Masotan, but... c'est la vie. I'm incredibly grateful for what I did get, even if I long for more.

[P] Hm. All of my most beloved stories are "schmaltz." Like Below Zero. Robyn and Al-An, things working out for them? It's autistic, isn't it? And that wasn't well appreciated by allistics. The inferior other should only exist to be rescued by the superior, and to serve them. That was the case with the original Subnautica and the Sea Emperor. And allistics loved that story. The Sea Emperor existed to enable them, then die.

[P] I'm not complaining, mind. Earth belongs to the allistics, I know that. I'm just visiting. I wish it was easier to know what I could trust, I'll say that. I'd find times of crystallised c9mfort—such as Dragon Pilot—much easier to discover & enjoy, then. And Dragon Pilot really is so very autistic. I mean, even a fetish like soft vore is... It's being engulfed in otherness as a comfort—as alien to allistics as they are to me.

[P] I often find this aorld to be... wretchedly "exceptional." Retchingly so? One of the two, perhaps both. It's unusual... I've become unaccustomed to stories of meaningful "schmaltz." As such, I can find myself emotionally bowled over when one rises from nowhere. I will avoid them, wondering what the allistic catch is, how they're going to traumatise me (like GW2 did). I mean, that's how it is mostly. It's not easy to trust.

[P] And to have a story like that that involves dragons? It must be my birthday. This is a pleasantly piquant cuisine for one such as myself. A rare delicacy, a treat. In this world, the likes of George R. R. Martin is worshipped for showing allistics the folly and tragedy of the inferior and how they suffer for it—and the allistics worship the ground he walks on for that. So I tend to expect most stories to be like that.

[P] How does this pertain to Dragon Pilot? Well, as I said, it's a very autistic story. It isn't the tragedy of the inferior Them and the deserved pathos of the inferior; It isn't the exceptional nature of Us and how the world belonga to Us. It's a story of an unexceptional person who tries really hard, who fails, then grows from it and eventully succeeds. A tale where everything works out for the unexceptional, strange person.
