@EllenInEdmonton @jcurries In #kDrama #saguek #DongYi, which I liked, I think the majority of Dong Yi's lines are saying " jeonha" in various scenes (respectfully, lovingly, worriedly, sadly). I exaggerate, but still ... 🙃

Day 9: Did you watch older dramas in 2025?
I watched quite a few that were produced shortly before 2020. In my quest to learn more history, I also waded through 2 elderly dramas:
#JewelInThePalace and #DongYi
Unlike hanktank, I don't recommend either one, unless you are a real history buff. They both told 16-episode stories in 50-60 episodes, largely filled with groups of people wandering around palace grounds, or shouting "Majesty" at one royal or another. Despite that, the main stories were both quite interesting, so I persisted.

Oh, I definitely don't have the stamina for that! #EmpressKi was the only long historical drama that I'm glad that I watched. Jewel in the Palace #DaeJangGeum and #jewelinthepalace #DongYi made me feel like ripping my eyes out after the first few shouts of "Majesty!".

Mixing up...
A lady at my weekly Monday-morning coffee is really getting into it with her daughter.
I gave her #QueenSeonDuk and #DongYi on USB a while ago.
Now talking about what they watched. ( Short chats, more people around who are not into it . Yet.)
That is very confusing, because my memory is not that good, they are long and there is so much happening in both.

¨Dong Yi “
2010, 60 episodes.

Based on real facts, starting at end of 17th AC.
How a lowly watermaid, with a history still being researched in 21th C, comes in contact with King Sukjong. Soon becoming his favorite, and mother of the next king.
This will influence Korea/Joseon’s history for many years to come.

As drama it seems to have an easy start.
A few episodes in, there is no other choice than completing it.

@Hanktank
I want to watch both of these based on your recommendation, but I think I might need to read a bit more history first to really enjoy them.

@jai_oh Woot! It's not the usual Korean political royal palace drama.

For me, it's ranks with the classics #Jumong, #DongYi, and #JewelInThePalace. It focuses more on the characters and the values they believe in and learn. The politics were only a plot device instead of the main theme.

Too bad, it's only 16 episodes. I hope it's similar to the classics, 50+ episodes, 60 mintutes each. ^_^;;
