Verona, 13 mar. - (Adnkronos) - “Per quasi 80 anni, l'Organizzazione marittima internazionale ha costruito un quadro normativo per il trasporto marittimo con standard chiari e universali che definiscono il modo in cui le navi vengono progettate, costruite e gestite - aggiunge - Ma le sole regole non bastano. Dobbiamo garantire che tutti gli strumenti dell'Imo siano applicati efficacemente, apportando benefici concreti a bordo delle navi, nelle importazioni e in tutto il dominio marittimo globale. Ecco perché il tema della campagna dell'Imo per il 2026 - 2027 è “Dalla politica alla pratica: potenziare l'eccellenza marittima”. Abbiamo bisogno che le normative si traducano in azioni e risultati concreti, che offrano benefici tangibili per tutti, ovunque, senza eccezioni”.
“Continuerò a sostenere gli Stati membri nell'approfondire la loro comprensione delle convenzioni dell'Imo e nel rafforzare la loro capacità di adottarle e applicarle - conclude - Sono le persone che danno vita alle politiche: marittimi, gestori navali, operatori, autorità e governi. Ogni individuo nella comunità marittima ha un ruolo da svolgere e una responsabilità da sostenere. Vi incoraggio a partecipare apertamente, a condividere idee e buone pratiche e a continuare a impegnarvi per l'eccellenza nel settore marittimo”.

Verona, March 13 - (Adnkronos) - “For almost 80 years, the International Maritime Organization has built a regulatory framework for maritime transport with clear and universal standards that define how ships are designed, built, and operated – he adds – But rules alone are not enough. We must ensure that all IMO instruments are applied effectively, delivering tangible benefits on board ships, in imports, and throughout the global maritime domain. That is why the IMO’s 2026-2027 campaign theme is “From Policy to Practice: Enhancing Maritime Excellence.” We need regulations to translate into actions and concrete results, offering tangible benefits to all, everywhere, without exception.”
“I will continue to support Member States in deepening their understanding of the IMO conventions and in strengthening their ability to adopt and implement them – he concludes – It is people who bring policies to life: seafarers, ship managers, operators, authorities and governments. Each individual in the maritime community has a role to play and a responsibility to uphold. I encourage you to participate openly, share ideas and best practices, and continue to strive for excellence in the maritime sector.”
