Dizzy Reece - Blues in Trinity
1958 debut of Reece, paired up with Donald Byrd (trumpet), Tubby Hayes (sax), Terry Shannon (piano), Lloyd Thompson (bass), and Art Taylor (drums).
Knowing that it was a RvG recording, I was surprised that the piano didn’t sound as muted. Turns out it was recorded in England, and not in RvG’s studio.
Anyway, nice, blues-y hard bop. Hayes absolutely rips his solo on track 1…
