I've been listening to Sonny Rollins since I bought his LP The Bridge sometime in the late 1970s. At 95, he wasn't exactly taken before his time, and he hadn't been able to play for the last decade or so, but still, listening to this...I kinda got something in my eye.

Sonny Rollins passed away earlier today at his home in Woodstock, New York, at age 95. Born Walter Theodore Rollins in New York City on September 7, 1930, he recorded as a sideman with Bud Powell, Miles Davis, and Thelonious Monk before taking on a leading role in the early 1950s.
