Drake released three new albums last week, with ‘Iceman’ standing out for its pointed diss tracks aimed at several high-profile figures in music and sports. The 18-track album, which also features guest appearances from Future, Molly Santana and 21 Savage, continues the narrative from his previous high-profile feud with Kendrick Lamar. On tracks such as ‘Janice STFU’, ‘Make Them Pay’ and ‘Make Them Remember’, Drake references Lamar directly, criticising his authenticity, streaming numbers, and height through metaphors like Muggsy Bogues. Jay-Z is targeted with lines alluding to the longstanding debate about choosing dinner with him or receiving $500,000, as well as his indirect role in the Super Bowl performance. Former collaborator J. Cole receives commentary on their fractured relationship and his involvement in the beef, while A$AP Rocky is addressed in relation to his partnership with Rihanna and recent diss tracks. Other notable figures include LeBron James, referenced for attending Kendrick’s concert, Dr. Dre via wordplay and past allegations, Pharrell Williams, Rick Ross, and DJ Khaled, the latter criticised for neutrality in the feud and views on the Gaza crisis. The releases follow Drake’s 2023 album ‘For All The Dogs’ and mark his first solo studio projects since the intense 2024-2025 rivalry with Lamar, which extended into legal disputes with Universal Music Group. ‘Iceman’ has already broken streaming records, with ‘Make Them Cry’ achieving significant daily streams on Spotify.
