Archeologen van de Universiteit van Tübingen en de Ludwig Maximilian Universiteit van München (LMU) hebben een goed bewaard gebleven #pottenbakkerij ontdekt van ongeveer 3000 jaar oud in het #Dinka-nederzettingscomplex in Zuid-#Koerdistan (Başur). De #opgraving geeft onder meer veel nieuwe inzicht in de organisatie van de #keramiekproductie in de #ijzertijd.

Dinka men of South Sudan regularly wear beaded corsets (malual), partly as indicators of their age group and position. The yellow beads in this corset suggest that it may have been designed for a man over the age of thirty. The glass beads and wire used in making such corsets are imported products, making the outfits considerable markers of status and prestige. Created during the 20thC from glass rocaille beads, fibre and wire, the corset measures 45.7 x 40.6 cm.
