even though it's about 20 years out of date, I am really enjoying _Dawn of the Dinosaurs_ by Nicholas Fraser, with illustrations by Douglas Henderson. Among other things, it has great coverage of many non-dinosaur tetrapods, both in text and in art, and even some coverage of invertebrates, included some great insect-focused art by Douglas Henderson, a scorpion-centered artwork, and spider-centered artwork.
