I recently reread all the available chapters of Devil's Luck/For you, my best friend by monkiko and Ni SanSui and I'm so angry that BiliBili shut down without first finishing the English translation (yes, okay, I know how the story ends because I looked for the raws in Chinese, but my Chinese is very poor and not enough to understand and I had to do mtl) because, aside from the fact that I think the art is top notch (one could say that's a personal taste and that's fine), but the story. THE STORY.
[CW: mention of mobbing, sexual harassment and suicide.
PLOT: Tan Qianxia’s best friend, Li Jiamei, jumpes off a building because of mobbing and sexual harassment at work. Qianxia makes a deal with the devil Bai Zhihou to avenge her. While investigating her friend's death, she discovers that in the company she works for (and Jiamei worked for) almost all the men exchange non-consensual photos of their female colleagues and wives/girlfriends]
The story faces painful and current topics like sexual harassment at work, non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images, and suicide.
The female protagonist is super badass.
There are some funny sketches between her and the male protagonist.
And even the supernatural element makes sense.
(The only thing I didn't really appreciate was the romantic twist, but okay, not my scene).
So here I am, wondering.
Why isn't any publishing house interested in this story?
Wouldn't it be nice to publish it outside of China too?
Am I the only one who likes it?
I really hope not.
(Yes, I know how publishing works, but I have to complain a little about it)
