Join us in remembering when desktop wallpapers were idyllic North American landscapes, when some Twitter users believed the Windows hill was burning, when operating systems were named after cats, and when technology felt, at least on the surface, more charming than it does today.

thinking about a desktop documentary as a project for this upcoming year. also something collaborative with people from fedi who would like to work on an art project.
this format caught my attention immediately when discovering Machines in Flames (2022) https://videos.parleur.net/w/3BZujYsBZNdCCtZj7GY6FN , have been admiring some drafts I got to see that came out at the end of a few art residencies from small art practitioners/art students that have shown them during events around here (but did not realize it was a thing then) ,
and been down a bit of a rabbit hole these past days (the post featuring "Safari(Browser)_The_Nature_ofmy_Computer.mov" from a few days ago)
also, it might (it seems from here anyway) be one thing I could do with the (limited) means available to me right now
