Was walking one night near #MolongoloCrossing in #Canberra, back when the aboriginal land then Four Rivers Station then Bluetts pine forest then bushfire-devastated wild blackberry area was only beginning it's descent into suburb #DenmanProspect when a roo crossed my path, close and at speed.
With near total silence.
I didn't know they could do that.

Oh gosh, that brought back a memory of an early spring, late evening, walk through what is now possibly east #DenmanProspect suburb, in #Canberra.

And there were loud eery unnerving wailing noises. They sounded very close and I was quite worried by them.

The land occupied by #DenmanProspect suburb in #Canberra has a history that makes for a perhaps illustrative timeline showing #LandUseChanges with #Colonisation of #Australia.

And also showing the trashing of the #CanberraMasterplan that had #Canberra as a #BushCapital for a while.

I'll post in a while, universe willing, photos of a tiny fragment of this timeline.

@RiversideBryan
They look suspiciously like #SlipperyJacks
Edit: Wrong photo - these have gills.

Hot spices will still have me reminded unpleasantly of the Slippery Jacks I unwisely ate without removing the spongey spore-bearing part.
(A similar effect on wombats?)

I read others have no problem eating them just peeling off the top slippery layer.

But no more for me.

#PineSaffron mushrooms on the other hand ...
