The Demir Baba Tekke sanctuary in the Deli Orman area (Razgrad district/ NE Bulgaria) houses the mausoleum of a 16th century Bektashi dervish. The Bektashi are a heterodox dervish order that shares essential beliefs with the Alevis, who mainly visit this sanctuary. It is no coincidence that a picture of Ali (son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad), who is revered by Shiites, Alevis and Bektashi alike, is in the centre.
