My first round was fruits: fresh bananas, canned peaches, canned pineapple, canned mandarins, frozen haskaps, frozen raspberries, frozen cherries, fresh grapes, fresh tangerine slices, fresh apples.

All were edible and tasty, but some were more successful than others. Next time I do raspberries, I will take them out much sooner, for example. And the grapes never did dehydrate properly even though I left them in there much longer than anything else.

My literal sabbatical project, i.e. the one I applied for and got the sabbatical with, is of course a research project in my field. But my OTHER sabbatical project is going to be learning how to dehydrate all different types of food! My #dehydrator arrived today and is currently being used to dehydrate several trays of fruit. I am INORDINATELY excited about this.

Do you have a dehydrator? What do you do with it?

In the ongoing quest to try new things, I have discovered two opposing facts about #dehydratedfoods. Dehydrating foods takes AGES. But, making tomato chips fills my house with garlicy flavor for every one of those hours, which I, personally, enjoy very much.
