Okay, it's not disabled. It's a simple word "Deactivate' in red text, and hovering over the word does nothing.

Hovering to the side of the word adds a faint red highlight to the row. There is no indication that it is a column-wide button until you hover to the side of the thing that looks pretty much like a link.

More or less stopped using X in 2022, but now that I have not made a single update for over a year, I have finalized my statement: X finally deleted, for good. I will not support X, Gab, Truth Social or any other criminally extremist alt-tech social media.

For X: You should be sorry. Fuckers.

Today I deactivated my Twitter account after being there for 5288 days (14.5 years). Most memorable moment for me was #BarackObama being my first follower from the start (and in turn was the first person I followed back in 2009). In the last year majority of people I followed became less and less active, quality and variety of the feed deteriorated and my time spend on it reduced to less than couple of minutes per day.

My 16-y-o daughter's #Twitter account was hijacked long ago. She stopped using it in the age of MuskRat, but couldn't deactivate it because someone changed the email on the account (to a privaterelay.appleid.com address). Thereafter, Twitter refused to deactivate it, making me wonder what they plan to do with the data there. Well. It took half a dozen emails and threatening legal action twice, but today they finally deactivated her account! #DeactivateTwitter #deactivate

@themarkup But if I want a general stream of consciousness of the internet, what are people talking about, whats the *zeitgeist* of the day... Mastodon is quickly taking over that niche.

Like the whole HogwartsLegacy controversy or whatever it was yesterday.

And I've had way more meaningful interactions and learned a lot more interesting things here in 3 months than in years on birdshite.

Deactivated myself over on the hellsite. My username isn’t particularly valuable, I haven’t actually spent time there in months, I distinctly recall when they borked 2FA for Ukrainians (UA phone numbers, specifically)…. And now this third party client cutoff with no warning. Screw that.

Why would anyone build for the platform now? Or even use/continue to use it for auth on some other site?

I just deactivated my Twitter account after the 'Latest tweets' button was removed. I will not be told what to look at. Elon Musk has taken social engineering into the twilight world and destroyed something that used to be quite useful. Sad but predictable outcome. #deactivatetwitter #musk #socialengineering
