I don't see myself tracking down a truckload of gravel and designing a Zen Garden today, but I did remember our recent visit to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the peaceful Japanese Zen Garden they have there - Tenshin-en, or the “Garden of the Heart of Heaven.” We sat in the garden quietly for a long stretch of time and did enjoy the extended moment of peace and calm.

Japanese Garden, Tenshin-en

Dedicated in October 1988, Tenshin-en, or the “Garden of the Heart of Heaven,” is a contemplative Japanese garden.

When life gives you sunshine
Soak up every wavelength
Harnessing
Reaching
Following the Sun mother
Til she’s gone
And back
Again

When life gives you sunshine in a world full of despair, crank your stereo and hear the beat of the snare, take it back to the sounds of the 90’s, get your skateboard and hit the streets!

Illustrate the Idiom
I’ll update a favorite western idiom: they would complain if they were hung with a new rope. It has many precedents and implications.

When life gives you sunshine ...
Stand outside and drink it in
Breathe it deep into your lungs
And bask in the warmth of the day
