So, I'm a #PhD #dropout. I dropped out to pursue a "real" career and be with my current company, among many other reasons*.
My academic Chair just called. I can have my full #cyberphysical #security project with full permission to share the project and results publicly. I would get to break into big buildings and later toot about it. I based my Master's off this work, and I've been passionate about it for years.
It's literally #pentesting event venues and high value buildings. It's what I used to do - I get to use the chips in my hands, I get to smuggle "weapons", and fool cameras. I could wardrive all day. I will be posting news articles shortly on the type of research I was doing.
I love my current job so much. I love who I work with, I like what I do, I love how much potential I have within the company. I have a sweet spot, no manager is going to have my back like mine has; I support for going to conferences, and to have CircleCItyCon uninterrupted. I have real career opportunities, I cannot give up this dream job.
🎵Should I stay or should I go?
We have lunch next Friday.
Spoiler: I'm not leaving my job, but I'll take the lunch.
*Most of those reasons have to do with the poor work environments that universities are, the state of education. Universities, degree mills, bootcamps, they are all trying to mimic each other for the lowest dollar. I would love to rant about academia to you.
