- A weapon was fired, a 20-kilowatt laser system called LOCUST, which actually belongs to the U.S. military, BUT, it was fired by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), without prior contact to the FAA

- This "incursion" was determined to be a party balloon.

- The FAA reacted and closed the Air Space because the counter-drone laser weapon had been fired without sufficient coordination. The airspace closure was lifted hours later.

If this proposed rule from the Dept of Homeland Security goes into effect, no one will want to visit the United States. I wouldn't blame them.
I have shared this info on LinkedIn and tagged my state's tourism organization. Customs and Border Protection is not making it easy to leave public comments on this proposed policy to require a trove of personal data on everyone entering the United States. You have to email a comment by February 9, 2026.

Apple Faces Legal Challenge Over Oxygen Blood Sensor in Apple Watch

Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 models, introduced in late 2023, have been halted at the US border due to a legal challenge by Masimo over alleged patent infringement regarding the oxygen blood sensor technology. Apple had planned to sell these watches in the US, but the Customs Border Protection (CBP) has prevented them from doing so. Apple attempted to appeal the ban, but the CBP is still evaluating the changes required. Masimo's lawyers indicated that both parties had reached an agreement for Apple to remove the sensor from the affected models. Apple is reportedly shipping the modified watches to retailers, but their sale is on hold. The decision is pending, and Apple is waiting for the regulators to accept their arguments. Masimo plans to invest $100 million in lawyers to fight the case.
