A raised bog, discovered in 2011 and highly unusual in the Pacific Northwest, is filled with diverse plant and animal life, including carnivorous plants. It covers roughly 40 acres and consists mainly of sphagnum moss, but also supports herbaceous and perennial plants, including trees.
Did you know: Sphagnum moss was used in WW1 bandages because it is so absorbent, but also antiseptic due to it being so acidic.
