Today, a long overdue task was completed. Billy Becko (the family's crested gecko) had his enclosure cleaned.
When he wakes up tonight, I hope he enjoys his newly redecorated home.
We hope to be able to buy him a bigger home soon. But that will have to wait til we have some spare cash.

Crested Geckos (Correlophus ciliatus) are native to the islands of New Caledonia in the southern Pacific Ocean. These Crested Geckos, or Eyelash geckos, get their common names from the distinctive rows of spikes that run over their eyes and down the sides of their heads. Thought to be extinct for many years, they were rediscovered in 1994, and several animals were brought to Europe and the United States. Soon thereafter, they proved to be very prolific in terrarium. Due to their beauty, easy manageable size, calm temperament, and ease of care in terrarium, these geckos have become one of the most popular reptiles kept as pets. βOne of the great accomplishments of herpetoculturists,β says Philippe de Vosjoli, βwas to establish the New Caledonian Crested Gecko in captivity. Twenty years ago, this species was known by hobbyists only in the form of photographs of preserved museum specimens.β

So @Squishy laid some eggs some time last night, and she's been lying on them protectively all day. ;____;
My heart π (She hasn't been bred, not ever, so there's no chance of them hatching. My poor baby. π₯Ί These aren't the first eggs she's laid, either, there have been dozens over the years, but it *is* the first time I've seen her "protecting" them. She's also 14 years old this summer, goodness!!
