Crested Gecko

Crested Geckos (Correlophus ciliatus) are native to the islands of New Caledonia in the southern Pacific Ocean. These Crested Geckos, or Eyelash geckos, get their common names from the distinctive rows of spikes that run over their eyes and down the sides of their heads. Thought to be extinct for many years, they were rediscovered in 1994, and several animals were brought to Europe and the United States. Soon thereafter, they proved to be very prolific in terrarium. Due to their beauty, easy manageable size, calm temperament, and ease of care in terrarium, these geckos have become one of the most popular reptiles kept as pets. “One of the great accomplishments of herpetoculturists,” says Philippe de Vosjoli, “was to establish the New Caledonian Crested Gecko in captivity. Twenty years ago, this species was known by hobbyists only in the form of photographs of preserved museum specimens.”

🌍🦎 Endangered Species Day🦎🌍

Named in honor of German naturalist Ferdinand Deppe, Abronia deppii was first described in 1828 by Arend Friedrich August Wiegmann. Endemic to the mountains of Guerrero and Morelos in Mexico, this arboreal lizard faces threats to its survival due to habitat loss and climate change.

Humidifier

The Exo Terra® Humidifier generates a cool fog through ultrasonic oscillations which simulates low hanging clouds and fog in tropical terrariums or early morning dew in desert terrariums. This Ultrasonic Humidifying Fog Generator with adjustable fog output control and 4,5 L (1.2 gal) reservoir is powerful enough to increase the humidity of multiple terrariums up to 100% RH. Created to be installed outside of the terrarium, its slim design allows it to fit in any Terrarium Cabinet. Equipped with a 120cm / 48" durable, flexible hose and multiple fittings, the Humidifier is suitable for various terrarium types and powerful enough to split the hose to humidify 2 terrariums (or more, by using the optional Humidifier Extension Kit). The Humidifier has a LED indicator that lights up green when there's enough water in the reservoir, flashes red-green when the water-level is low, and red when the reservoir is empty. The Humidifier automatically shuts off when water level drops below minimum and restarts once water is replenished. The removable lid makes it easy to replenish water even while the Humidifier is in operation. With its 4,5 L (1.2 gal) reservoir, the Humidifier runs up to 20 hours per filling on full capacity, while a lower fog output will extend the duration proportionally. The Humidifier is ideal for use with the Exo Terra® Thermostat & Hygrostat (PT2464), so a specific humidity can be set up for the daytime as well as for the nighttime. Just like a proper diet, correct temperature ranges, UVB Lighting and various other factors, providing the correct relative air humidity is vital for the proper care and maintenance of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Adequate humidity levels aid the shedding process and help prevent respiratory problems. Increasing relative humidity levels after a somewhat drier period can also stimulate the reproductive behaviour in many species. To maintain a proper humidity level in a well ventilated terrarium, you will need to use a Fogger or Humidifier. Spraying or misting is perfect to provide water droplets as drinking water but will only increase the relative humidity for a short while. Exo Terra’s ultrasonic Humidifier is ideal to increase humidity levels and create a natural misty and damp environment. Ideal for animals that require a higher humidity, such as certain geckos, chameleons, iguanas, water dragons, frogs, toads, certain tortoises, certain snakes (like green tree pythons, emerald and other boas) and many other reptile, amphibian and invertebrate species. Since every reptile, amphibian, invertebrate or plant species has its specific environmental needs, thoroughly research the specific humidity levels needed for your species and use the Humidifier accordingly. PT2081 - Humidifier - Ultrasonic Humidifying Fog Generator Additional accessories available to extend the system: PT4235 - Humidifier Extension Kit (120cm / 48" silicone tubing, 1 x Y-connector, 2 x suction cups with holding brackets, 3 x PVC-connectors and 1 x long PVC-elbow (20cm / 8") Ideal for use in combination with the Exo Terra® Thermostat & Hygrostat (PT2464). Includes: 1 x flexible silicone hose (120cm / 48") 1 x Y-connector 11 x PVC-connector 5 x PVC-elbow 1 x long PVC-elbow (20cm / 8") 3 x short PVC-pipe (9cm / 3.5") 2 x suction cup with holding brackets

A Frilled Dragon crossing a sandy road in the Australian Outback.

🦎🌏 Native to northern Australia and southern New Guinea, the Frilled Dragon is the only member of its genus. While its iconic frill is usually folded—like in this image—it dramatically flares out when threatened, creating one of nature’s most striking defenses.
