Booking Form to Work with Dhiyanah (ART & ILLUSTRATIONS)

Hello! This is the form to use when sending a commission or project brief to hire me for artwork, illustration, and design work. I'm looking for gigs for 2026-2027. I'll have 2 slots available per month and will open more if I'm able to. I am also open for contractual or part-time work. AVAILABLE FOR: Book cover - minimum USD200 / MYR800 per artwork Cover art for short story/magazines - minimum USD150 / MYR600 per artwork Private commission - Digital - depending on level of detail, estimated approx. USD150 / MYR600 per artwork Private commission - Painting - depending on level of detail, estimated approx. USD200 / MYR800 for A5-A4 artwork, plus shipping Picture book illustration - depends on publisher's budget OR a flat rate per page depending on style, medium, and level of detailing All confirmed digital commissions will come with 1 sketch document that clients can provide feedback on before work on the final piece begins. Additional sketches or post-production edits might cost extra depending on the level of work required. 1 edit round for small edits will be offered for each commission, especially for book cover art. All confirmed traditional commissions will come with 1 sketch document that clients can provide feedback on before work on the final piece begins. No edits once final piece begins. If you're looking for art and illustrations for a format that's not mentioned above but might have some similarity (eg. album cover, art for games/ttrpg, book catalogue, infographics, illustrations for textbooks or educational materials) I'd love to review your proposal. Please read through the guidelines below carefully. I will respond to proposals that include all the necessary information within 1 - 2 weeks. GUIDELINES 1) All artwork will come with a Terms of Use document based on mine and the client's agreement to ensure that the creative labor of this work is respected. A hard boundary for me is that I do not consent for any of my artwork to be used for manipulation, redistribution, or re-selling for merchandise, other materials, or other platforms that haven't been agreed upon. I also do not consent for any of my work to be knowingly used for/on genAI, NFT, stock websites, or for machine learning purposes/platforms. As the artist, I retain intellectual property and copyright of the artwork I create. Proper accreditation to me as the artist wherever this work appears, along with links back to my pages/website/shops, is highly encouraged. Unless otherwise agreed upon, I retain the right to resell or redistribute the artwork made for commission for the purpose of my livelihood, within 6-12 months of sending the final work to the client. To own the full commercial licensing for a commissioned artwork I've made for you, please request for written permission from me via email and offer a fair compensation (3x the initial commission price is standard). 2) I am a multiply-marginalized and invisibly disabled artist with lifelong and sometimes life-threatening health challenges. As such, I won't be accepting any work with tight or urgent deadlines, neither will I be accepting high workload volume for less than my standard rates. Depending on the level of detail and scope of the project, please allow for a wide timeframe and flexible deadlines. I suggest communicating when your Hard Deadline is early on so that we can manage time and communications efficiently during our work together. For my part, I will ask for accommodations as I need them to ensure a smooth workflow. I also ask for care and gentleness when dealing with logistical negotiations since I suffer from complex traumatic stress and chronic illnesses/pains/fatigue, which impact my capacity for communications labor and admin tasks. As I need a lot of rest, I might work slow at times (hence why I'm opening only 2 slots per month for now). Some accommodations I have needed in the past include: a trusted collaborator stepping in to help manage logistics, keeping work communications minimum and within previously-agreed upon parameters (eg. email-only, no chat unless for quick updates), video calls to discuss complex themes or check-ins for larger projects, clear and compassionate feedback that takes our access and limitations into consideration. For my part, I will make it clear to you when you can expect updates from me. You're welcome to let me know what your disability/support needs are as well. 3) I've been making art for 30+ years (personally, academically, and professionally), and have multi-disciplinary expertise in 2D hand-drawn art and illustration. My focus is on creating emotionally evocative, vibrant artwork based on mood, concept, and atmosphere. Certain design aspects, such as social media images, vector graphics, font design, and publication design tend to take a backseat in my professional focus. This is partially due to limited access to software, so this might change if I receive more resources from paid work. While I am currently willing to do some design work, for now there might be a limit to what I can accomplish outside of my specialization in 2D hand-drawn artwork/illustrations. 4) For traditional art commissions, please be prepared to pay for international shipping. I ship from Malaysia, and might not easily be able to ship to some countries without some help or information from you. The artwork will be appropriately sealed and packaged depending on materials used. My main traditional medium is watercolor. I also use acrylics, color pencils, graphite, gouache and often a mix of these. You will be emailed Terms of Use as well as Care Instructions at the completion of the commissioned work. Commissions for traditional artwork is finalized once the work itself is complete. You may choose to finalize the payment before it's shipped off or during its transit to you. You may choose which courier service works best for you and we'll calculate shipping costs from there. While appropriate packing materials will be provided, do note that once the artwork is shipped off, I can't guarantee it will reach you and am not responsible for what happens in transit. This is a known risk with traditional commissions, but if you have received mail internationally before, this shouldn't be a problem. I can provide free shipping for local Malaysian orders if you commission 2 pieces from me in one slot at full price, negotiated based on standard rate and level of detailing. Examples of traditional commissions: pet portraits, stylized watercolor, floral or abstract artwork, stylized art of a favorite animal/place/creature/memory. Please remember to reuse or recycle the packaging materials. 5) For orders over USD100 / MYR450, please prepare a non-refundable 50% deposit to confirm your commission slot (I might ask for less deposit when I'm able to, for clients who are booking months in advanced), especially if you are a first-time client. If we've worked together before or if you prefer to limit transaction fees, you may pay the full amount before the work begins. This deposit/payment is only refundable should I have to cancel the booking. I suggest making this payment once we have agreed on theme, materials, how the artwork will be used, expectations around communications, and timeframe - the form below will help us define these parameters. Final payment should be made within 2 weeks of the project's completion and is also non-refundable. Payments for Malaysian clients will be done via online bank transfer. Global clients should send payments via PayPal or Ko-Fi. 6) When I am able to, I can offer sliding scales, payment plans, or a mix of discounted payment and barter trade for marginalized, disabled, and financially struggling clients. As I have been struggling to make a livelihood from my work for years now due to health and social challenges, and have contributed a lot of voluntary creative work to various communities, I ask for your understanding around this and to request for this option only if you absolutely need it and cannot afford my standard rates. 7) I will not make artwork that depicts gender-based violence, animal abuse, or art that promotes hatred, queer/transphobia, xenophobia, or the exoticization/dehumanization of any marginalized cultures, communities, or groups of people. I am excited by projects where I can explore and expand on ways to celebrate nature, the imagination, and diverse representations in hopeful, vibrant, and imaginative ways. I am open to horror/gore/dark themes but will limit this for SFFH-themed cover art projects. I'm currently not open for erotica, but platonic showcases of affection is something I enjoy working on. I welcome clients' guidance on conceptualization to ensure that the authenticity of the voice, message, and impact you want to communicate is clear in the artwork. I work best with clients who are willing to trust my work and process - who respect creative labor and have an understanding or at least willingness to stay open around disability justice frameworks. My current workflow might seem different when compared to other commercial artists and that's good - all artists have unique workflows - and as a disabled working artist, I must ensure that the jobs I get are able to support my well-being both financially and communally. I ask that you spend time with my work first, then fill out this form if you are sure you want to work with me. I recommend keeping a copy of your form replies. You can expect a reply from me within 1-2 weeks of receiving your proposal. In my reply, I will state whether I can accept your proposal and/or might inquire further to refine the details. Once payment is made (deposit or in full), work on my side begins. CLIENT TESTIMONIALS "Dhiyanah is an absolute delight to work with. She's full of bright ideas, but her attention to details, delicate linework, and bold color choices can truly bring those ideas to life." - Franz Anthony, Artist and Illustrator "Dhiyanah Hassan is a brilliantly talented artist who takes true care to each client's aesthetic, with a gorgeous eye to the color and depth of life to evoke feelings of wonder and curiosity. Dhiyanah is a pleasure to work with and strongly recommended." - Emily D.E. Bell, Executive Editor, Atthis Arts "Dhiyanah did a fantastic job drawing my fairy portrait just the way I wanted, depicting my true form as an ace dragon, with lots of beautiful details to zoom in on. I was shown several WIPs to comment on so she would get it completely right, and an unquestionable joy from doing this work was evident in every stage and delightful to witness." - Minerva Cerridwen, author of 'The Dragon of Ynys' “Working with Dhiyanah was a delight. She paid close attention to my requirements, and brought a thoughtful artistic eye to the project. I am very happy with the results.” - Alexandra Pierce, Editor of Speculative Insight magazine DHIYANAH'S ART If you're new or unfamiliar with my work, here are some pages you can browse through to get a feel for what I can offer. It's helpful for me when clients already have an idea of what my work looks like, what they enjoy from it, and what they might want me to focus on for their commissions (ie. Colors, visual motifs, form, mood, etc).
