@kimlockhartga Relatedly, my daughter wants to get #cornrows in her very curly but clearly white-person hair (including the white-person face below the hair), and is very worried that people will think badly of her.
Her reason is that she does circus, and regular braids come out too easily and it gets stepped on by her circus partner and (a) hurts and (b) can actually pull her out of position and become unsafe. She'd rather not chop it all off, but that day may be coming.
She's read a lot of threads on reddit and some people are like "it's your hair do what you want" and others are corroborating her concerns.
I ask #BlackMastodon for an opinion. Is it racist for white people to get cornrows? Is there a "white-friendly" hairstyle that would do the thing she wants? (keep it under control and yet not need enormous care every day)
