David stared at the blank page as if it had betrayed him.

"Fuck", he said, softer now, as if sound might disturb whatever fragile impulse had yet to come.

The pen hovered. Nothing. No thoughts. No words.

Then something moved.

At first, he thought it was his hand twitching from too much caffeine. But no. The pen touched the paper and began writing on its own.

David froze.
