I had to make another trip to Redding and was glad that the temps had cooled down. Randy and I were in Redding a few days ago and it was 80 fucking degrees. In February. Trees are blossoming all over the place.

Today was to do a video interview for a documentary about Sierra On-Line. It’s a big project that was crowdfunded last year. It was an extremely nice crew of Canadians. On this swing through the western states, they’re interviewing me, Mark Crowe, Lori and Corey Cole, Jim Walls, and I’m not sure who else. It was a detailed and thorough interview and I look forward to seeing the final result.

Some more swastikas that were cut from Conquests of Camelot before release: the corner emblems in Merlin's closeup in the intro.

Again, I doubt artist Peter Ledger meant these in anything other than the ancient "sun symbol" sense, but the change is understandable.

Interior art from Sierra News Magazine vol. 3 # 1 (Spring 1990) in the article on Conquests of Camelot.

Like the cover, these may have been (as @rezmason noted) painted by Bill Eaken, who soon moved from Sierra to LucasArts.

Notice the runes on Excalibur suggest his initials "BE"!

Something found by @rezmason in one of @robotspacer 's streams:

Sierra News Magazine vol. 3 #1 (Spring 1990) has a cover painting of Christy Marx for an article about Conquests of Camelot - painted by Bill Eaken in his brief time at Sierra before he moved to LucasArts!

Eaken went on to be lead artist on Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and did much of the background art used in The Dig.

Here's a comparison of the early & final map screens as well. The date on the map of Britain was moved back by a century, from 900 to 800 AD, and the water on the map of Europe was changed from a parchment-yellow to blue.

Comparison of the chapel in Conquests of Camelot in Sierra's 1989 video catalog vs. the final game.

The early parser window has a teal background, and the vision of the Grail has a diffuse glow. The final parser window is white, and the Grail glow is very spiky.

Also, in the video the player just types "pray" to get the vision, but in the final game you have to "give gold"!

An early screenshot of Conquests of Camelot, with a title bar that reads "Conquests of Camelot I".

I suppose Sierra's mindset was that it's never too early to start planning for sequels!

Also, the four corners of the box cover contain swastikas (probably meant in the ancient "sun symbol" sense), which were understandably replaced with a different type of cross in the final design.
