Musical Interlude: Swedish composer Lars-Erik Larsson had a great idea...create some accessible modern music pieces for community orchestras to use when they have a guest artist. His series of "concertinos" are notable for their relatively simple orchestral backing with relatively complex instrumental solos; a chance for a guest artiste to show their stuff. They're charming works and it's nice to think of a composer who worked to provide community orchestras with material.

I tried joining a local #CommunityOrchestra a few months after moving to #Seattle, but shoulder pain made me drop out after 3 rehearsals.

I guess I’m still on their internal mailing list, because I got the details for the March concert, and I just reached out to ask about rejoining…

Play a violin solo that uses 7th position.

I played it better in rehearsal, but I *did* it. First proper solo in a proper concert since... possibly since school. And I'm not sure I ever did one then.
