#StudioMusikfabrik is participating in #ZettEmm with works by young composers – a contemporary festival made entirely by and for youth. The festival offers a wide variety of concerts, workshops, dance and sound installations. Each year we are touched and impressed by the incredible quality of the work, illustrating time and time again the importance of giving space to this new generation of artists.

Pictures from the dress rehearsal for Skull by Rebecca Saunders today taking place at the l'Auditori, Barcelona at 19 o'clock.

For this piece, Saunders resonates with this quote by Haruki Murakami:

“ The skull is enveloped in a profound silence that seems nothingness itself.
The silence does not reside on the surface, but is held like smoke within.
It is unfathomable, eternal, a disembodied vision cast upon a point in the void.”

Musikfabrik im WDR #93

"Traces and Spaces" - das Ensemble Musikfabrik geht auf musikalische Spurensuche in erweiterten Klangräumen.

Some impressions from the rehearsal of Enno Poppe's Zug (2008) for seven brass instruments before the concert tonight at the Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam.

Guido Fischer writes: "(...)Poppe doesn't just enjoy irritation. He loves playing with and the tension between expectations, possibilities, and barbs. This kind of free-thinking is typical of him."

There are still some tickets left for tonight as well as our concert at the WDR Funkhaus, Cologne on Saturday.

Ensemble Musikfabrik is entering a busy fall period with concerts in Amsterdam, Cologne, Barcelona, Talinn and Riga.

Pictures from different rehearsals for two concerts this week, starting with the Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam this Thursday, with a world premiere from Farzia Fallah, as well as Rebecca Saunders, Sarah Nemtsov and Enno Poppe - and the WDR Funkhaus coming Saturday in Cologne.

"I was riding to work on the bus when I heard this first line come into my consciousness like somebody was playing it to me," Riley recalls. "And I got quite excited, so as soon as I got off work that night, I went home and wrote down the first line."
