If #Bristol is looking for a hero to replace the incorrigible slave owner #Colston, they could do worse than #Plimsoll. The line he invented is on every cargo ship in the world. He was even used as figurehead by the Aberdeen and White Star Line as a bowsprit on their revolutionary iron clipper the Samuel Plimsoll.

Comment about the #Colston statue being ‘destroyed’:

“This is about destroying our country's history and our sense of who we are. This is about hatred and exterminating a nation.”

A lot of probably unintentional truth to those words.

Debates around #Churchill and his statue will point to where people’s loyalities lie when it comes to White Supremacism.
