I'm getting a right hankering to make an Argyle piece again since it's been a while. The main thing is finding the correct yarns that allow for planned colour pooling. I created this blanket with Red Heart Super Saver Pooling yarn, which is really good, but unfortunately not very easy to come across in the UK now and expensive when you do.

I wrote about my first foray into colour pooling on my blog if anyone is interested. It can be extremely frustrating at times, but also very satisfying once you get the hang of it. If I find a good yarn for planned pooling this time, I'll update it and let you know ☺️

EDIT: Unfortunately the site I linked to in my blog looks to be defunct now. So best to have a look at Marly Bird's video instead for a good explanation:

I did it! One useful creation; a scarf to match my winter coat, crocheted with colour-pooling technique. It took a while, but it worked. Phew.

A couple of years ago I had a play around with planned colour pooling to make Argyle patterns. I wrote a blog post about it at the time, which you can read here:

I'd love to hear your experiences if you have tried the technique and which yarns you used. #crochet #crocheting #colourpooling #crochettechniques #argyle

Adventures in Argyle

I recently picked up on the buzz around planned colour pooling (or planned yarn pooling) which uses variegated yarns to create Argyle patterns. I thought it was a really clever technique so thought I would give it a try. Three days later I was still pulling my hair out and not producing anything that looked remotely like an Argyle pattern. There are however, some great resources on the internet to help you understand how it works. The one that made the most sense to me was Glamour4You's excellen

This is my current #crochet project, which is a rediscovery of a UFO, it is a #ColourPooling pattern which feels a bit like witchcraft - some yarns work, others don’t, and some that are supposed to work, don’t!
I’m going to sew it into a Sontag-type cross over wrap
