@HannahHowe I have enjoyed listening to the Paul Temple radio serials on BBC Radio 4 Extra, and for me, Steve will always be associated with the voice of Marjorie Westbury. That elegant, sophisticated voice allowed the listener to conjure up one's own image of Steve, especially since Westbury did not generally appear in film or on television.

I'm very excited.
When I was 11 or 12 my stepfather gave me an old Bush DAC90A that had belonged to his father. Listening to the BBC medium and long wave services and the world service on this old valve wireless gave me a love of radio that has stayed with me my whole life. When I was 15 I bought myself a secondhand 70's hi-fi with FM and step-dad decided I no longer wanted the Bush. He sold it for £10 at a car boot sale. I was distraught.

Two songs from the soundtrack to "With a Song in my Heart": American Medley, and That Old Feeling. The one at the end is "I'll Never be the Same." My version's on a collection called "Can't get out of this Mood." There are also a couple of other Jane things that I found on You Tube. The plane crash stuff is scored by a piece of Claudia Serne and Leopold Ross' soundtrack for "Broken City," called "Missing Pieces." Then there's a song by The Caretaker called "Stairway to the Stars." I read a lot about Jane for this but nothing was as useful as Ilene Stone's lovely book,"Jane Froman: Missouri's First Lady of Song."
I was that geeky kid who always had a “transistor” radio in his pocket. I remember staying up late during summer nights to listen to AM “powerstations” from hundreds or thousands of miles away.
I went everywhere with my GE pocket radio with collapsible antenna and AM/FM tuner. *Nine-volt battery not included.
The receiver had automatic frequency correction (switchable) to help “lock in even the weakest FM signals”. 😁
