A magical rock from the Wiley Trails, crowned with lichen (𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘢 sp.), with mossy sides for good measure:

We've barely gotten rid of the snow here, most tree branches are still bare, but the lichens and mosses are bringing forth the green most spectacularly as a vanguard of spring.
Pebbled pixie cups (𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘱𝘺𝘹𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢) from last weekend's hike on the Wiley Trails:
Trumpet cup lichen (𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘧𝘪𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘢) growing in tree skirt moss (𝘗𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴), from yesterday's hike on the Wiley Trails:
(Yesterday was our first hike of 2026 on the Wiley Trails, as well as the first hike with the new macro lens, which I employed in this picture. Expect lots of interesting close-up points of view this season as I learn how to use the new lens!)

J 🏳️🌈 no se yks ViitanenJotta asiat ei olisi liian helppoja, samalla rungolla on muidenkin torvijäkälien podeetioita, myös äimätorvijäkälän, joka on C. norvegican näköislaji.
Kasvustot oli vielä varsin nuoria, mikä ehkä selittää sitä, että podeetiot on noinkin pieniä. Norvegicalla voisivat olla jopa kolmesenttisiä, ja rubrotinctankin pitäisi kasvaa yli senttiin.
