“Dear San Francisco: My 19-year-old brother had extreme social anxiety, to the point that he couldn’t speak in front of anyone that he didn’t know extremely well. When he came to visit me in SF last month, we played a game of “rejection therapy” and the goal was to ask a stranger for a favor that would immediately be rejected-- as exposure for his fears of social rejection.
