I'm kinda addicted to watching Simon and the Witch right now.

So the reason I was on #InternetArchive is because I was looking for #ChildrensBBC's Simon and the Witch.

And it's really good! I mean, sure, it's for kids or something, but it's so very enjoyable to watch.

Part of what makes it enjoyable is that they bothered to make enough episodes to do the story justice, but also because of the great actors in it.

Elizabeth Spriggs is excellent. She really has fun with the character. It's so easy for actors (who are probably low paid on kids' TV) to do the bare minimum, but Spriggs is great.

And it also has Joan Sims in it who is always great.

And the kids are good, two of whom went on to be famous or something. One is Nicola Stapleton, who was in EastEnders, and the other is Naomie Harris.

I mean, it's nothing hard-hitting or anything. But I love it.

Have not heard this in many, many years. Rentaghost was a children’s TV staple in the early 80s. Incredibly catch theme tune. #80sTV #RetroTV , #ChildrensBBC https://ohai.social/@hypnogoria/112789517711235095

Here’s a bit of a gem. An odd one. Who remembers the BBCs somewhat eclectic mix of children’s programming, magazine format and science fiction known as ‘Parallel 9’?

Jonathan Bufton has gone to quite some lengths in catching up with those involved with making and appearing in it. Here is a very detailed retrospective on the making of Parallel 9:

Tope, Tope, How Did They Cope? The Making of Parallel 9 - Part 3

Parallel 9 was my first TV obsession.  Aged 8, I spent the summer of 1992 watching the show religiously - and, from the start of the summer ...
