I bought myself an #Xbox controller in The Sales this week - I could've saved some pennies buying a used one, but when they drop to a few bucks more than a "good condition" second-hand one, there's not much reason not to go for the one with warranty.

This isn't for the collection; it's destined to be functional house infrastructure. With the #Chatpad and USB adapter that I've had squirreled away for a while, this thread will document my struggle turning it into a media PC remote. 🧵

@eniko and yes, I personally used the #CTFWIKE4 on the go many times.

  • It's really nice for some stuff and whilst it needs a proprietary wireless dongle, it just works transparently as a mouse & keyboard combo on anything that does USB-HID.

Sadly I've not found a way to use an #Xbox360 #Chatpad & #Controller as #Mouse & #Keyboard replacement instead.

  • Mostly because the ChatPad is some proprietary #SMbus-thingy...

@loic @eniko the original #Xbox360 #Chatpad sadly isn't reachable as a regular keyboard in my testings on #Linux.

  • Some folks did adapt this #SMbus thingy to #USB tho...

Otherwise I do love it as it's a #BlackBerry-Style clicky board...

Kinda like the CTFWIKE-4....

Attached: 3 images @[email protected] I can recommend the #CTFWIKE-4 from personal use. They also have a predecessor/succesor model CTFWIKE-3 with bluetooth and a stick for mouse too. Not shure of the keys tho. - Also there the #Rii X1 with like a 65% layout * touchpad to the side is any good, as they are way cheaper and a lot of makers seem to use these.

I'm looming for a thiny #Thumb #Keyboard (kinda lie a 60% or 40% board that is tiny) that connects via #USB (wired!) to any host device.

Kinda like the #Dreamgear #MiniKey or the #Xbox360 #ChatPad but it needs to be either FLOSH or at least be still made to this day AND work natively as Keyboard.

It can't be wireless!!!
