Saga breaks silence: Why I left engineering for Big Brother Naija

BBNaija star Saga revealed on February 22, 2026, that his engineering colleagues pushed him to join the reality show. During an interview on Channels TV, he detailed how he balanced offshore engineering with his passion for drawing before finding fame as a multi-talented Nigerian entertainer.

Saga recently shared the unexpected origin of his journey into the limelight. He spoke candidly about his transition from a rigid engineering background to the entertainment industry.

The reality star appeared on Channels TV’s Sunrise programme on February 22, 2026. He addressed his reputation for having high energy and multiple talents. ValidUpdates understands that he remains one of the most versatile figures from his season.

From Engineering to the Arts

Saga explained that he strictly focused on his studies while in university. He avoided creative pursuits until after he graduated. This shift in focus surprised his former classmates who knew him as a dedicated student.

”I didn’t even… like when I was an engineer in school, I didn’t even touch any of the creatives. Like, I completely abandoned them. So when my classmates or colleagues are like, ‘Who is this guy?’ because it was almost non-existent when I was an engineer in school,” the star said.

He noted that his peers only knew him for his technical skills. He often assisted others with their technical drawing assignments during his school years. This discipline later fueled his professional art career after he left the university.

”So, I started drawing officially the year after I left school. That was when I started drawing officially. So my classmates just know that, okay, I love technical drawing, I loved drawing my diagrams. I used to do assignments for people, draw their… you know all those…” Saga explained.

This interview follows a trend of stars opening up about their past. Much like when Kola denied relationship rumours during a recent sit-down, Saga used this platform to clarify his personal history. He admitted that his artistic side only truly emerged once he entered the professional workforce.

The Push for Big Brother

Saga described how he practiced his crafts while working as a professional engineer. He would bring his drawing board to offshore sites to stay creative. He also focused on fitness and music during his off-duty hours.

”But my point is, like, I concentrated on my engineering when I was in school, fully. It was when I left school I started to do anyhow. Like, I’d take my drawing board to work. Like, I’d put my drawing board on the table and I’ll be drawing. Offshore, I’m drawing. I’m doing my fitness, I’m doing all those things, I’m singing,” the entertainer detailed.

His coworkers noticed his diverse talents and vibrant personality during these shifts. They eventually pressured him to audition for the hit reality show. He confessed that he had never even watched the programme before they made the suggestion.

”So my colleagues at work literally begged me to go for Big Brother. They begged me! I never watched the show. They were like, ‘Please just go, please, just go, you will do well,'” Saga declared.

This sudden career pivot mirrors the public interest seen when Queen Mercy atang rejected Lord Lamba’s plea for a fresh start. Saga however views his time on the show as a necessary step for his growth. He believes the platform allowed him to launch his career as a full-time entertainer.

”The Big Brother experience? Uh, it was good. It was worth it. It was rough at the time, but in hindsight, it was absolutely…” he noted.
