@ohagolle - After three successive summer droughts in 2018, 2019, and 2020, the dieback of oaks has considerably increased in France.

Florian Mouret et al from #CESBIO and #Orleans University, have set-up a new method to monitor oak dieback, using #Sentinel2 #EarthObservation data as input, with terrain measurements to train the classification model. uses the #Iota2 opensource framework to process large multi-temporal #timesSries

A new operational method for monitoring oak dieback in the Centre-Val de Loire region – Séries Temporelles

In two studies Julien Michel (#CNES & #CESBIO) showed:
▶️ that data fusion methods can be used to merge #Sentinel2 with #SentinelHR, providing time series with 2 m resolution and 5 days revisit with rmse errors below 0.01 in reflectance even for pixels with a high gradient

Details: https://labo.obs-mip.fr/multitemp/test-of-spatio-temporal-fusion-of-sentinel-2-new-generation-data-with-a-potential-vhr-mission/

▶️ that these methods still provide good results when the #SentinelHR revisit is reduced from 12 to 30 days.

Test of spatio-temporal fusion of Sentinel-2 New Generation data with a potential VHR mission – Séries Temporelles

At #CESBIO laboratory, we promote a new very high resolution mission, #SentinelHR, to complement #Sentinel2 with 2 m resolution images acquired with a systematic and global revisit every 10 to 30 days and 4 spectral bands.

We are ready to trade revisit for resolution, as we feel that landscape details with high frequency (buildings, trees, hedges, roads) tend to change less than the low frequency details. But demonstrating it needed work.

We made two studies to try to prove it.

Bonjour @lalifou, content de te voir parmi nous ici !
Après ma thèse au LJP je suis parti à Toulouse au #CESBIO, et maintenant je travaille à plein temps sur #Duniter.

@EU_HaDEA @CopernicusEU

Including #Cesbio laboratory to provide data fusion methods and super resolution, and work on biomass products.

#CNES will work on 3D products (DEM, DSM, buliding extraction)

Great article on the #CESBIO #Multitemp blog by @inglada on the production of a land cover map of Sahel with #iota2 . The methodology is very inspiring. I look forward to learning more about the generation of pseudo-climatic maps from WorldClim data. #EarthObservation #RemoteSensing #GISchat

The #Multitemp blog (Séries Temporelles in French) is just 10 years old ! It was started to provide information and news around the SPOT4 (Take5) experiment in preparation to #Sentinel2. And as we had fun writing the posts, we went on, with my co-editor from #CESBIO , Simon Gascoin ( @[email protected] )

More than 850 000 pages have been read so far, on our almost 1000 posts !

Claire Pascal successfully defended her PhD one month ago at #CESBIO. She studied how the current and future #satellites allow to monitor the hydrological cycle at the scale of a large Indian region: #Telangana

This blog post tries to summarize the results: https://labo.obs-mip.fr/multitemp/feedback_hydrology_remotesensing/

@mrak @voooos

OK, it's complex, but it also brings benefits. My lab, #cesbio, has members from 5 different employers
CNES the French Space Agency
CNRS, the largest research institute
INRAE, agronomy research inst
IRD, research for development
And Toulouse University

CNES (my employer) brings a few researchers, data and knowledge on satellites. It gets a lot of feedback from advanced research users, requirements for new missions, processors, applications...
