It has taken a lot of effort by Abhipsa Sahu to complete her work on the Lcp enzyme family involved in Mycobacterial cell envelope synthesis, but it has resulted in a splendid article.

Impairment of two non-essential LytR-cpsA-psr (Lcp) cell wall ligases decelerate cell wall assembly in Mycolicibacterium smegmatis - BMC Microbiology

The LytR-CpsA-Psr (Lcp) family of proteins are highly abundant amongst actinomycetes and Gram-positive bacteria, and known to exist as multiple paralogs in

Mapping the ultrastructural topology of the corynebacterial cell surface

The unique cell envelope of corynebacteria remains poorly understood at the ultrastructural level. This study maps the C. glutamicum cell surface, revealing a patchy S-layer organization and the specific assembly of the PS2 protein, and providing a framework for understanding cell envelopes that contain mycolic acids.

At the #BioProScale symposium currently taking place in Berlin, Stephan Hartmann is presenting his poster on electroporation of fatty acid-producing #microalgae. Breaking the #CellEnvelope with high electric fields is of interest to break down the bioproduct, i.e. to harvest the #FattyAcids. Second, we needed to determine the maximum field strength the microalgae can withstand for separating the cell by using the effect of #dielectrophoresis.
