A lone fleabane off by itself has decided to flower. Good for it =)

#CatgrassPrairie

The fleabane, prairie pricklypear, hairy goldenastor, and white sagebrush are all fine. No new updates on the yard.

The single patch of fleabane is just chilling.

Please, prairie primrose, you cannot grow there. And you especially cannot grow as big as you seem to be planning to in the front walkway.

This is Godzilla vs. Biollante all over again. #CatgrassPrairie

The hairy goldenastor, Harry, is also getting ready to bloom.

In two weeks, there'll be a lot of flowers in the yard. Other than all the flax and penstemons we have now. White and yellow will overtake the blue and purple.

Remember the prairie primrose in the walkway I said couldn't stay?

Glenn named it Prim, and it's still here.

The neighbor's yard bordering ours was overrun with spurge and other invasive species, so she said if we were willing to clear out the weeds, she wouldn't mind letting sagebrush replace them. We got it cleared out, saved this sage, and it seems like the vine on the fence is probably Virginia creeper, so potentially native.

The prairie coneflowers are preparing to bloom. These guys feed the local birds all autumn. These'll look like elongated sunflowers once they get going.

White sagebrush (Artemisia ludoviciana) also very pretty in the rain =) From a few days ago.

Fringed sage rush (Artemisia frigida) in the rain practically glows, and I love it.

From a few days ago.

Oh! I had a question about the CatgrassPrairie tag. I just like to make it easier for people to see (or mute) the plant posts.

Our ecological system here between the mountains and plains is a shortgrass prairie, and we jokingly call the kitchen "Catwater Cafe" because of the kitty fountain there.
