I had a good idea whilst looking for other peoples lost #arrows at my clubs 3D #archery tournament. It was really hard finding #CarbonArrows. Most of them have a tiny pile and a minuscule pin nock. It was really hard to get a decent signal from the metal detector. Wooden arrows tend to have bigger piles but plastic taper nocks so you only get a hit from one end.

I started thinking. A metal detector doesn't actually pick up metal it picks up magnetic fields. One quick search on amazon and you can get 24 2mm diameter x 1mm thick neodymium magnets for 3 quid.

I just tried one of the #magnets with my clubs metal detectors. It works!

The next time I make some #arrows I will add a magnet at each end. There should be enough space at the very tip of the #taper for the pile and #nock. They weight next to nothing so they wont affect the arrow.

Pass it on fellow #archers
