Black herons have a unique way of hunting known as ‘canopy feeding’. They spread their wings out in the shape of an umbrella which blocks out the sunlight, making it easier for them to spot prey.

Reddish #Egrets often feed by disturbing the surface of the water to draw the interest of prey, like fish or crustaceans. This is called “canopy feeding,” and is commonly employed by #ReddishEgrets, and this one has just finished.
