"Hand's up!" orders the Holo-gangster.

The Team look to Talbuck who nods slowly and they all raise their hands.

The gangster looks to Talbuck. "I'm guessing you must be Dix. Well I got a message for ya' from Tootsy Stix. She's gotta creep up in the Obsidian Lounge who just won't leave - and he's looking for you!" He jostles his Tommy gun toward Talbuck. "I gotta car downstairs, and you're coming with me..."

Lt. Glorin places her hands on Talbuck's shoulders, and shouts over the chanting, "Talbuck! Snap out of it!"

As she shouts the chanting suddenly ceases and the Holodeck becomes eerily silent.

"Glorin... Thank you. The Anomaly... it gets inside your head..." says Talbuck. Then with focus, "We can't stay here too long. Let's isolate the Anomaly and restrict it's - Wait! Look!"

The office door opens and through it, steps a stocky, scarred, Tommy-gun wielding mobster!

"Freeze! Drop the heaters!" He roars...

As the Xenobiology team search for the living Anomaly within the Dixon Hill Holo-programme, the Anomaly's gutteral chant echoes through walls!

"KLART-TEG BLOK KAR! KLART-TEG BLOK KAR!"

Talbuck attempts to identify himself, but is drowned out by the terrifying noise. He responds in kind, repeating the chant back in an effort to create a dialogue...

But as he repeats the inhuman tones Talbuck is overcome! His eyes glaze and his hands drop to his sides.

Talbuck steps to the desk and answers the phone with a traditional 20th century greeting; 'What's shakin'?'

In reply Talbuck hears a faint voice, barely audible, and crackling with electronic distortion. It takes a moment for him to realise it's his own voice being played back to him! Suddenly the line clicks, there's more distortion and then: 'KLART-TEG BLOK KAR! KLART-TEG BLOK KAR!'

The Anomaly's cryptic chant sends a chill through Talbuck. But it's not just coming through the phone! 'Klarteg blokkar' loudly sirens throughout the Holodeck, causing the team to cover their ears.

And just as suddenly stops.

Talbuck stands with the phone in his hand..

You select Lt. Cmdr. Talbuck, to lead the mission. He has extensive (and unique!) xenobiological experience, plus he’s been running the Dixon Hill programmes in his free time.

Outside the Holodeck the team check their tactical kits. Talbuck gives a nod, and an ensign unlocks the Holodeck doors allowing the the team to step through into 1930’s Chicago.

Passing through the arch, their uniforms ripple holographically as the programme provides costuming to suit the era.

After briefly admiring his Trenchcoat and Fedora, Talbuck gives his orders:

You order the preparation of a Xenobiology team to enter the Holodeck simulations of 1930's Chicago and initiate communications with the Anomaly.

You also decide to assign a 20th century historian to the team to help interpret the environment of old Earth.
