@xavsworld BTW, it is interesting to see #CRTC justify not deploying alerts to 3G with some fuzzy logic.
Real reason: it was AT&T who developped alerting software for HSPA/UMTS and it was seen a proprietary solution that would cost a lot for short period of time since migration to LTE was already underway. And AT&T has signalled it intended to stop supporting it soon.
@xavsworld It was the #CRTC that chose to ONLY use presidential alert and forced it on carriers.

While it doesn't specify "presidential alert", it is the only one defined that cannot be overriden. ( Designed for catastrophic events such as Mars attacking USA).
Image is from is from FCC: (FCC uses "National alerts" instead of "presidential alerts".

@EdwinG The CRTC has been instructed to reduce regulation as longas competition is sufficient. The government has stated that 4 is enough to declare market competitive, so #CRTC complies and even moving to destroy competition in ISP market by having only Bell, Telus, Rogers, Vidoéotrn oligopoly rule the ISP marketplace.
So don't expect regulation on maximum wait time.
