*** CPDP 2026 – Day 3 Highlights ***
And that's a wrap! What a week!
#CPDP2026 brought EDPS through an intense week of debate on privacy, data protection, AI and digital rights.
Today, we took part in:
"PLSC Europe 2025 Top Policy Provocations"
Romain Robert from the Policy and Consultation Unit joined the academic session as commentator, reflecting on papers selected at the 2025 PLSC Europe in Leiden.
"Worker Data Rights under the GDPR and Beyond"
Thomas Zerdick, Head of Supervision and Enforcement Unit, spoke at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung panel examining enforcement gaps in protecting workers' data rights and the disconnect between the GDPR's formal guarantees and their practical effectiveness in workplace surveillance and data-driven management. He brought the perspective of the EDPS, where the workplace is far from a niche concern but a central part of the institution's enforcement work. The discussion covers enforcement gaps, the untapped potential of collective enforcement, and what the Digital Omnibus could mean for workers' data rights.
"The AI Act: AI Regulation and its implementation in troubled times"
Sonia Pérez Romero, Head of AI Unit, in panel with Gianclaudio Malgieri, Yordanka Ivanova, Gloria González Fuster, moderated by Alessandro Mantelero explored how the AI Act is reshaping EU institutions and how the EDPS is guiding this process, from the AI Act Correspondents Network to the preliminary mapping of EUIs' AI systems and the pilot regulatory sandbox. She also assessed whether the AI Act risks deconstruction before delivering its full impact.
"CSAM regulation and its implications for encryption, privacy, and fundamental rights"
Fanny Coudert, Deputy Head of Supervision and Enforcement, moderated the Caspar Bowden Tribute Panel
