Are people slowly waking up?

In the aftermath of COVID-19 infections—even if you weren’t aware of having one—many people find themselves grappling with lingering symptoms that don’t quite add up. You may feel fatigued, struggle with brain fog, experience shortness of breath, or notice a rapid heart rate after minimal exertion. If you’ve asked yourself, Could this be Long COVID?—you’re … Continued
Today's toll is depressing:
2 x "colds" with "terrible coughing", still going in to work.
3 x COVID (admitted to it)
2 x mystery "doozies" (my favourite)
EDIT: The mystery "doozies" came up positive. First timers they say, though they've had 'colds', so I wonder.
And also 1 sick (in the UK), but a loud NO when I asked if it might be COVID.

Am I delusional? This is a cry for help.
Am I being misled? Have I been the target of misinformation? Is COVID really not the concerning illness I have been led to believe it is? Have I been reading the wrong scientific studies?
Am I suffering from this steel and feathers syndrome? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-fC2oke5MFg
I see people who attended conventions and the like getting sick with COVID all around me. But then a person not 100kms from me said last night she's only known 2 people who had it. She said there must be an outbreak around us (400 household community we live in). Nonetheless, she said her husband thinks she's paranoid because she won't touch doorknobs in public places.
At the same time, masks are being reintroduced in the Nova Scotia Healthcare facilities from today and sources I consult show Nova Scotia is at "severe" risk level.
Honestly, I feel so alone in this. (With my husband, at least we are together in it.)
Just getting desperate. It's been so long.

Of course, that does not include the deaths officially attributed to COVID-19. No way from this data to know how many deaths in other categories might actually be deaths caused by SARS-CoV-2, but manifesting as heart, liver, or kidney failures, or neuropathologies like Parkinson’s or dementias.
Nonetheless, these numbers should be at the top of the news, but somehow, they don’t matter anymore.
Regarding this BMJ correspondence claiming that #LongCOVID has been exaggerated, the authors:
- Tracy Beth Høeg was asked to support Florida Governor Ron Desantis, the state with the highest number of #COVID deaths in the US,
- Shamez Ladhani worked in 2020 with the #COVID school information survey in the UK, enlightening former "health" minister Matt Hancock,
- Vinay Prasad is a well-known anti-vaccine source of misinformation.

### Key messages High rates of long COVID or post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) continue to be reported in academic journals and subsequently filtered to the public. For instance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently stated ‘nearly one in five American adults who have had COVID-19 still have long Covid’.1 Many scientific publications overestimate PASC prevalence because of overly broad definitions, lack of control groups, inappropriate control groups, and other methodological flaws. This problem is further compounded by inclusion of poorly conducted studies into systematic reviews and meta-analyses that overstate the risk. This is fed to the public by the media and social media, raising undue concern and anxiety. This paper aims to discuss these estimation errors and why epidemiologic research on long COVID has been misleading. For the purposes of this paper, we define long COVID as a syndrome or individual symptoms which are direct sequelae of the virus, SARS-CoV-2, and last at least 12 weeks. Some post-COVID sequelae such as post-ICU syndrome, and post-pneumonia respiratory compromise are common to many upper respiratory viruses. While post-infectious conditions common to other respiratory illnesses may be included in estimates of prevalence of lasting symptoms, we propose future research avoid the umbrella term ‘long COVID’ and …
