Well, that wasn't half as difficult for England as I'd been led to believe it might be. As confusing in large parts as I'd expected, though. But, lovely, well done England. World cup winners. Nice ring to it.

I do think that Canadas brand of rugby will be influential on the game going forward, but that won't be because it won a world cup. Shame

Many rules of this code of the sport are difficult for us. In League I think we'd have seen about three dozen knock-on penalties given in a game like this so far. And this penalty advantage that seemingly lasts anywhere up to thirty or so minutes is baffling.

"It all looks so messy. What's going on there?" asks my wife and I try to explain to her what's happening. However, despite playing rugby union for years at school (a centre, since you asked) I cannot remember the rules regarding mauls and rucks and line-outs so I'm largely making up reasonable-sounding ones instead.
