fukin horrific. harsh reminder that franchising is a completely unregulated activity in the UK. if the franchisor isn't a member of the BFA then they haven't even agreed to self-regulation.

if you're using the franchisor's POS they know everything about every transaction and, if they're greedy, they can squeeze the franchisees until they crack. as they've done to 62 franchisees.

vodaphone are far from the only bad actor in UK franchising

you can get client testimonials (and you should) by asking for a testimonial or having a comments page on your website, etc for testimonials.

but that's a lot of work.

your business agony uncle has this great tip (that i got from someone else)

someone writes something nice about you:
"can i quote you on that?"

someone says something nice about you: repeat it back and ask "can i quote you on that?"

doing a customer satisfaction call, did you get the stuff, any problems with delivery, how do you like it read it all back and "can i quote you on that?"

there's your #Testimonial you don't have to use the big word when asking for it or make your customer or client do any of the work.

when people aren't telling me they want funding so they can stand in the cold for 12 hours, 7 days a week, they're telling me they need funding for an app.

no they can't tell me what the app does but ChatGPT tells them they need £250k.

do IP fraud on spotify and suddenly it becomes a crime.

My interesting facts from the article:

Deezer estimates 18% of uploads are slop. mostly intended to be used for streaming fraud.

Streaming fraud has gone from one or two songs generating millions of streams, obviously fraudulent. to thousands of uploaded slop tracks generating roughly a thousand streams each.

at present the platforms have no method of detection [that they are willing to disclose]

my thoughts:
oh, an undetectable fraud, how interesting. Although if you want to do this for yourself you can outwit the platforms but when you come to tell the tax authorities you have earned millions from streaming as an unknown artist you still have a (not insurmountable) money laundering problem.

How AI-generated songs are fueling the rise of streaming farms

AI-powered streaming fraud is costing the music industry hundreds of millions. Now stakeholders are fighting back with new detection tools and collaborative initiatives.

mugs: carry coffee, tea, and other drinks with you is a great description of a mug. too many people quote product features when selling something.

far better to talk about how your product/service will benefit you

"want to enjoy a drink of coffee from your own bed? Try mugs!"

or the problem your product/service will solve

"sick of having burned, wet hands? simply for wanting to enjoy a coffee? Try mugs!"
