Some sort of terrifying giant bull ant, Myrmecia sp. Wikipedia tells me their venom is the most toxic in the insect world, and that they're prone to jumping when agitated, so I'm pretty happy with my decision to fill my frame with this guy 😐

I took the macro kit out for a stroll in the backyard and found some critters.

The somewhat fearsome jumping bull-ant, a tiny spider, and a small rainforest scorpion.

Alas, during the expedition into the gully, I picked up a passenger, who decided to bite me on the neck, and then finger when I brushed it off.

Thankfully there was "Sting Goes" up in the house. These bastards really really hurt.
