Divine Bottle

The Saint-Vinage de Boulbon is a half-Bacchic, half-Catholic celebration which takes place in the Saint-Marcellin chapel in Boulbon, in Bouches-du-Rhône. It is placed under the patronage of Saint Marcellin, reputed to be also "bon pèr l'aigo et bon pèr lou vin". Only men crowd into the chapel of Saint Marcellin, a bottle filled with wine in hand. During the Mass is read the “Wedding at Cana”, taken from the Gospel according to John, then the priest announces: “Durbès vosti fiolo pèr la benedicioun dou vin di malaut”.
