These photos were taken during a blackwater dive in Guam last year. Blackwater? This is a dive at night over very deep water (300m) with lights on a float. Tons of mostly tiny creatures rise up every night for the great migration! Very tough to find on camera and to focus. These were really the only usable photos I got in 45 mins or so, but I saw much more!
This was my second blackwater dive, and it was much smoother than my first!
1st time I left my lens cap on, got stung on the face by a jellyfish, had some ear damage from surfacing too quickly (maintaining depth with minimal visual references in the dark is hard) and my dive buddy got stung by something that made him very sick! Everyone recovered, but what a learning experience, helped me think more critically during my rescue diver course!
