We need the #fedi to come up with more community led approaches to conflict resolution. Cops are not our friends they don’t care about our safety if we have a problem in the fedi we need to solve it in the fedi. We shouldn’t be cooperative with cops. Cops will target our marginalized user base. Cops will make more problems in the fedi on purpose if we want solutions we have to come up with the tools as a community. Cuz handing our problems over to law enforcement makes it harder for us to address them sometimes it’s out of our hands but we shouldn’t make it easy for them to disrupt the community we’re trying to build here. If we have a racism problem on the fediverse we have to deal with it we can’t let law enforcement a historically racist institution sweep our issues under the rug for us.

We can create more features to help admin and other community members deal with moderation and reporting. It will take time but we have to commit to giving ourselves the tools to combat abuse. Finally watched #BlackPanther over the weekend (I'm very behind), after finishing the High on the Hog series. Did anyone catch King T'challa take down a rhino with the same technique black cowboys (indeed all cowboys) would take down a steer? So minor but so good. 👏

Tried to see if there were any other little nuggets of history, culture, tech, and politics that people have found in the movie... now that I'm caught up with the first one. 🫠
